Bernie Davey Medal Night 2013/14
Ballan was well represented at the 'Bernie Davey Medal' held at Bray Raceway on Wednesday evening 19/3/14.
The highlights for Ballan were; Daniel Romeo winning the Champion player for Division 3, Noel Heafield taking out the batting averages (393 runs @ 78.60 ave.) and Chris Mullane being selected in the Bernie Davey team of 1984 to 2013. Chris having previously won the B grade best player award twice ( the equivalent of the Bernie Davey Medal back then) in 1983-84 & 1986-87.
This season is the first time that grades lower than Division 1 & Club 1sts have been recognized and awarded with their respective champion players.
Mick Loughnane was runner up in the batting averages with 263 runs @65.75 ave.
Mick Nolan just missed out (again) on the Wicket Keeping award with 15 dismissals just behind Paul Phillips (Dunnstown) with 16.
Maybe Mick should have left the gloves on at the end of the last game!
Noel Heafield was also equal 3rd place , on 9 votes, in the Bernie Davey Medal vote count.
The winner was Dale Jeffrey (Lucas) on 12 votes, with runner up Brad Palmer (Buninyong) on 11.
Followed by Noel Heafield (Ballan), Simon McCartin (Burrumbeet) & Jeromy Johnston (VRI Delacombe) all on 9 votes.
You can check all the votes on the Bernie Davey Medal Voting page on this website.
