2012-13 Ballan Players in Representative Squads |
Ballan had terrific success at the Ballarat Cricket Association awards, for the 2012/13 Division 1 competition, last Tuesday night.
The Bernie Davey Medal awards were held at Bray Raceway, in Ballarat, in conjunction with the BCA Club grade E.J. Cleary medal and awards The team took a clean sweep of the aggregate and average awards. Mick Loughnane (382 runs at 54.57) headed a list of three Ballan batsmen to take home the batting aggregate, however teammate Jarryd Graham (321 runs at 64.20) pipped him for the average, while Ryan Aquilina (26 wickets at 10.50) won both the bowling average and aggregate. Ryan also received the award for the most wickets in an innings which was 7/55 off 20.5 overs and included 7 maidens. Ballan also won the club aggregate with 36 votes,which is the total of all votes polled within the team. Mick Nolan just missed out on the wicket keeping award. Overall, not a bad night, picking up 6 of 10 awards to end the season. All those awards sitting on the Ballan table were quite a sight as the night progressed. Other notable Ballan performances were; with the ball, David Gardiner (16 wickets at 22.38 ave.) and with the bat, Mick Nolan (342 runs at 38 ave.) & Cameron Dunne (160 runs at 16 ave.) The winner of the Bernie Davey Medal was Kane Leathem on 10 votes, Creswick's captain. He finished 2 votes clear of Burrumbeet batsman Darren Linane, VRI Delacombe paceman Lachie Isbister and Lucas captain Nathan Clarke, who all tied for second. Ballan had several players polling votes throughout the season; Jarryd Graham - 7, David Gardiner - 6, Mick Nolan - 6, Ryan Aquilina - 5, Mick Loughnane - 5, Cameron Dunne - 3, Noel Heafield -2, Craig Tooze - 1 & Lachie Dickson- 1 Ballan's Division 1 and Under 14 Blue sides were both bundled out of the Semi Finals on the weekend. Ballan's club presentation night will be held at the Recreation reserve rooms on Thursday 28th March beginning at 6.30p.m. |
Several junior members from Ballan have been chosen as representatives in several different squads and have also already played some games.
These players are as follows; Boys -BCA squads U 14 : Dylan Graham , Thomas McGregor, Jack McGregor & Ben Loughnane U15 : Rhys Scott. U17 : Michael Snaith. Girls - Central Highlands U14 : Aynsley Darke. U16 : Jordan Loughnane. U18 : Summer Dehnert. Girls - Barwon Rockettes U14 : Katelyn McGregor The Ballan Cricket Club is proud to have these players representing the Central Highlands, BCA, Barwon & Ballan CC. It should also be an honour for each player to be selected in these squads and to be given the opportunity to play in a higher standard of cricket. Congratulations to all of you |
