Ballan Players in
Ballan had terrific success at the Ballarat Cricket Association awards, for the 2012/13 Division 1 competition, last Tuesday night.
The Bernie Davey Medal awards were held at Bray Raceway, in Ballarat, in conjunction with the BCA Club grade E.J. Cleary medal and awards
The team took a clean sweep of the aggregate and average awards.
Mick Loughnane (382 runs at 54.57) headed a list of three Ballan batsmen to take home the batting aggregate, however teammate Jarryd Graham (321 runs at 64.20) pipped him for the average, while Ryan Aquilina (26 wickets at 10.50) won both the bowling average and aggregate. Ryan also received the award for the most wickets in an innings which was 7/55 off 20.5 overs and included 7 maidens.
Ballan also won the club aggregate with 36 votes, which is the total of all votes polled within the team. Mick Nolan just missed out on the wicket keeping award. Overall, not a bad night, picking up 6 of 10 awards to end the season. All those awards sitting on the Ballan table were quite a sight as the night progressed.
